How much money do I need to move to Turkey for permanent residence in 2021?
One of the most frequently asked questions is - HOW MUCH MONEY DO I NEED TO LIVE AND MOVE TO TURKEY IN 2021?
Let's take the average prices for Antalya and a family of 2 adults and a child. So how much money would you need to live in Turkey at first?
Housing in Turkey
Of course, buying your own property in Turkey would be the perfect solution, as it would save you a lot of money each month for the rent of the property.
However if you can't afford it right now, you will need a rental flat.
Let's take the best option for a family like this - a three-bedroom flat (or a 2+1 flat in Turkish).
The minimum price for such a flat in 2021, furnished, in good areas of Antalya (Konyaalti/Lara) for a one year rent - from 2.500 lira per month.
If you downsize by flat and rent 1+1, the minimum cost in good areas will be around 1.700 lira.
Of course, if these rental amounts are expensive for you, it will be possible to find accommodation in distant areas, then it will cost less.
So, you will need to give this amount 3 times at once: 2,500 lira a month's rent + 2,500 deposit (you will get it all back at the end of the tenancy) + 2,500 commission for the realtor. In some cases you might be asked for a double deposit - please take it into consideration!
In addition, you might need to have water and electricity meters re-issued to you. This may cost about 250-350 liras more. In total, you will need around 7,500-7,850 lira for the first month, and then about 2,500 lira for rent and around 200 lira for aydat (monthly rent for the apartment) per month.
Acquiring a residence permit in Turkey
The residence permit for the whole family in Turkey ( please note, that in our calculation there are 2 adults and a child), for 1 year, including the costs for compulsory health insurance for all, notary certification of the rental contract, translation and certification of the marriage certificate and birth certificate of the child, fees and taxes will cost approximately 2.500 lira for citizens of European Union countries.
Cell Phone Issues in Turkey
Don't forget that your phone will not work for long in Turkey and will be blocked after 6 months. In order to unblock it, you will either have to pay the foreign phone registration tax (approximately 2,000 liras) or buy a new Turkish phone!
Kindergarden or School in Turkey
If the child attends a public kindergarten, it's another 400 lira per month for half a day; for a private kindergarten, starting at around 1,500 lira for a full day.
If the child is a pupil at school and will attend a public school, add about 3,000 lira per month, depending on the level of the school and its setting prices.
A public school will be free for you.
Perhaps you will need a shuttle service to take your child from home to school or kindergarten if the kindergarten/school will be a long way from home. These cost about another 300 lira per month.
