We are often asked about the best time to come on vacation to Antalya. And, we always give an honest answer: The best time for vacation in Antalya is late spring or mid autumn.
The weather is very comfortable at this time of the year – it is sunny and warm but not unbearably hot – the sea water is lukewarm, the beaches are not packed with tourists, the gentle breeze from the sea and mountains refreshes you every so often.
But if you are used to taking a break from work in the summertime, unfortunately, your choice is limited.
In terms of climatic conditions, the most favorable summer month for vacation is June, but, as a rule, in late June the real Mediterranean heat sets in.

The weather in Antalya in August. What do the tourists say?
SVETLANA: We were vacationing in Antalya in mid August. We were experiencing a strong heatwave. The temperature varied from +36 to +42. It was scorchingly hot to me.
It cooled down a little bit at night with the temperature range from +25 to +28. The water in the sea was of milk-warm temperature even at night, which did not refresh us but relaxed and calmed down for sure, like a hot bath before going to bed. The heat did not go away while we were there.
I remember two days when the temperature was +33 and it seemed to me that it got a bit cooler. All those days the sky was clear blue without any clouds.
MICHAEL: There is an opinion that August is the start of the mellow season at the seaside but it is not definitely about Antalya. It is really too hot there.
You had better go to the beach early in the morning, at least by 8 am you have to be there. The sun is not scorching yet, the sea is cool and refreshing. It is enough to spend 2-3 hours sunbathing and enjoying the fresh sea air.
If you want to come to the beach again, it is better to do that after 6 pm when the day's heat is gone. Evening is a perfect time for swimming in the sea. After this experience, I am determined to come to Antalya in June next time. And, I am also sure that it is worth coming in September – just at the end of the month.
The recommendations made by Micheal are very fair. There are a lot of tourists and local citizens in Antalya who like to go to the sea at 6 am to see the sunrise and welcome a new day!
The sea in early hours of the day gives refreshment to swimmers, the water is still and there are no waves at all. And, it is absolutely true that at the end of September the mellow season usually starts. It means the weather is still nice and warm but there are no “killing heatwaves”, the sea is lukewarm but not too warm like it is in a hot August.
